4/27/2004 Case 1: Langerhan’s histiocytosis


Clinical History:

This 2 year old boy has been healthy until two days prior to admission when he had a fever of 104° for two days. He recovered from fever and had been playful of the day of admission. That afternoon, while playing, he fell on the floor, followed by a cry. No loss of consciousness or seizure activity was noted. When the patient went to bed for afternoon nap, he was found shaking all over in the bed for about 1 minute followed by a brief cry. He was then brought to KCH ER where he was witnessed to have another brief (1 minute) generalized seizure. CT and then MRI ofthe brain showed an extraaxial mass in the right frontal region. The patient underwent total excision of the mass.
