New York Association of Neuropathologists
This was a lesion from a 51 year old right-handed man who had no significant
past medical history. He had a craniotomy for resection of a right frontal
mass after presenting with headaches and a single seizure. The mass enhanced
with Gadolinium. The MRI and gross neurosurgical impression were of a high
grade infiltrating p,arenchymal glial neoplasm.
The submitted section showed a cellular malignant neoplasm with medium-size to
large cells including many with prominently granular eosinophilic cytoplasm.
Most present thought this represented a Granular Cell Astrocytoma.
