Dr. John Donahue is a neuropathologist and neurologist (certified in both) whose research interests are in dementia, aging, and neuro-oncology. He received a grant from NIH/NIA to study the relationship between apolipoprotein E genotype and blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability and has published papers on BBB amyloid-beta transporters in control and Alzheimer disease (AD) brains. He has served as a reviewer on three NIH study sections and is an annual reviewer for the Alzheimer’s Association Research Grant Program. He is responsible for central pathology review of brain tumors from patients enrolled in a Brown University Oncology Group phase II clinical trial (“PPX and Concurrent Radiation for Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma without MGMT Methylation”). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology, the official journal of the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP). He has served on the AANP’s Awards Committee at the last two annual meetings (2010-2011) and is a member of the AANP-RISE Liaison Committee, charged with writing and soliciting questions in order to build and then maintain an annual, national neuropathology in-service examination for neuropathology fellows.
