Biography:

  • Graduated Kinki University School of Medicine, Osaka, Japan 1984, and remained in the university hospital as a staff pathologist.
  • Joined Houston Merritt Clinical Research Center for Neuromuscular Disease, Department of Neurology, Columbia University, NY as a postdoc research fellow, 1991.
  • Remained as an associate research scientist specialized in muscular dystrophies and mitochondrial encephalomyopathies till 2000. There were a lot of professionals going back & forth between the U.S., and Japan.
  • In 2000, decided to be medically licensed in the U.S., and entered the AP/NP resident/fellowship program in Columbia, remains as a faculty in Department of Pathology upon completion of the NP fellowship.
  • Personally, I am an opera & classical music fan. Also an almost-professional art critic for Kabuki and Noh play. Love to read about world history (mainly political science). Had a next life, I would like to be an opera singer, a history professor, or a jet pilot.
